Senior Business Development Manager (IT/Telco Industry)

About the Role

The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business growth and expanding existing client accounts across managed IT services, cloud, and telecommunications. This role manages the full sales cycle while contributing to strategic initiatives that support long-term business growth. The position requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with a strong focus on building lasting client relationships and increasing recurring revenue.

Ideal Candidate (Must-Have Requirements)

  • 8–12+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management
  • Proven experience in MSP, ISP, telecommunications, or managed IT environments
  • Strong track record of achieving or exceeding revenue targets, particularly in MRR growth
  • Experience selling solutions such as managed IT services, cloud, VoIP, or cybersecurity
  • Proven ability to manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, connectivity solutions, and IT services (sales-level knowledge)
  • Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify growth opportunities
  • Experience handling both new business development and account management
  • Ability to translate technical solutions into business value for clients
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently
  • Experience in the Australian market or similar industries is advantageous

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identify, engage, and close new business opportunities across SMB and mid-market sectors
  • Develop and execute sales strategies for managed IT, cloud, and telecommunications services
  • Conduct outbound prospecting through calls, emails, events, and referrals
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline focused on recurring revenue growth
  • Manage and grow existing client accounts through regular check-ins and strategic reviews
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities to increase client value
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities and pipeline in CRM systems
  • Prepare sales forecasts, reports, and performance updates
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and service delivery
  • Provide market insights and contribute ideas for new offerings, pricing, and growth strategies
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnerships
