AU Accountant

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Australian Accountant to join our team and provide high-quality accounting support to our Australian clients. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of AU accounting standards, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client files with accuracy and professionalism.

Ideal Candidate (Must Have Requirements)

  • A graduate of any 4-year course related to Accounting or Finance (CPA license is a plus)
  • 1 year of solid Australian accounting experience (public practice preferred)
  • Strong proficiency with Xero (must-have); MYOB or QBO is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of GST, PAYG, STP, and Australian tax compliance.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication.
  • Ability to handle multiple client files and deadlines.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and accountability.
  • Employee work set-up will be dependent on the client’s discretion

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of individual, partnership, trust, and company tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with ATO and ASIC regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian tax laws and policy changes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, BAS, IAS, and TPAR lodgements in accordance with Australian compliance requirements.
  • Reconcile accounts, including bank, credit card, AP, AR, payroll, and intercompany transactions.
  • Assist in preparing management reports, cash flow statements, and year-end workpapers.
  • Process day-to-day financial transactions using Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks Online.
  • Manage payroll processing aligned with STP and AU Fair Work standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (bookkeepers, admin support, tax managers) to ensure timely deliverables.
